Hurricane Dorian Relief
On September 1st 2019, Dorian made landfall as a Cat 5 hurricane on Elbow Cay, Abaco in The Bahamas, where my parents, family and friends live. It was absolute devastation, no one was left unscathed. So many people lost everything, their homes, their businesses, possessions they were all in survival mode trying to stay alive.
Four weeks on and there has been little change, no electricity, no shops, no school, debris everywhere, families and loved ones separated. It will take years to clean up, rebuild infrastructure, homes and business. I still cannot believe that our lives have been changed forever.
This small but special community is one of the strongest I know, everyone has come together in their time of need, helping and donating where possible. In order to do my part, I have created a collection of bookmarks, badges and a sticker sheet using images of paintings inspired by these islands. The lighthouse at sunrise image was painted by my nephew Luke Prosa when he was 9 years old.
JWesty Design will be giving ALL money raised from sales in the Hurricane Dorian Relief range directly to the Hopetown Primary School Fundraiser in Elbow Cay, Abaco, Bahamas.
